Know More about Americano Coffee
You may have heard of Americano coffee, but what’s the history behind the name? Americano is a coffee with a shot of espresso with hot water added. There’s an equal amount of espresso and water in Americano coffee, and many drinkers believe that this type of coffee has an intense taste, something that’s similar to that of drip coffee, but it has a bold flavor that’s somehow different.
A Little Bit of History
Many people are under the impression that the first Americano coffee was made during WWII. Americans in Europe tried to recreate the type of coffee that they were used to in the States. They tried to achieve their goal by diluting different coffee blends with hot water. In today’s society, the beverage has become popular not only in the US but also around the world.
Making Americano Coffee at Home
This popular coffee type can be made in your home and it’s extremely inexpensive. If you’re curious about the taste and texture of the beverage, you’ll definitely want to try and make it for yourself. The first thing you will need to do is get some espresso beans; grind them until they’re fine in texture. Keep in mind that espresso will have to be ground a lot more than that of drip coffee grounds.
- You will have to create a lot of steam. For this step, use as much water as you need to for your machine to be able to create the required amount of steam.
- You don’t have to heat water if you have a coffee machine with a feature to pour hot water. If you don’t, you can use a kettle or a stove.
- Get a metal cup and place the coffee grounds in the cup. This cup needs to have a handle, and it’s often referred to as “porte filter”. Once you’ve done that, ground down the grounds on the machine.
- Check at least twice to ensure that the porte filter is properly placed and secure.
Now you’re able to begin the heating process. To do this, turn on your coffee machine. Place a cup under the filter (many people prefer to use a small espresso cup) and fill your cup about 2/3 full; turn the coffee maker off. Pour the drink into a coffee mug and add about 31 to 234ml of hot water, depending on the intensity you want. Add your desired amount of sugar.
